Poisoned Ports

Marine ports are a crucial piece of the global economy, and shipping traffic in New England is surging. Increasingly, public health experts and community activists are speaking out about the health costs — asthma, heart disease and even cancer.

Poisoned Ports is a series from the GBH News Center for Investigative Reporting that looks at the high cost of the shipping industry.

Mixing this story from Chris Burrell required careful attention to the frequencies of industrial equipment and a creative arrangement of audio captured from a multi-lingual protest.
